Mine had the same problem as well. I found that everything including the wiring was fine. Turned out some corrosion was on the bottom of the cig lighter (where the wires connect to it). There is a plug that supplies power to the lights and cig lighter in that "unit". You can pull the ashtray out pretty easy, Just move your shifter back and open the ashtray and wiggle it out. Unplug and the assembly is in your hands. Then you have to take it all apart to clean the cig lighte and clean the contacts with a wire brush and do the the wires too. Then put it all back together and it should work.

I have the same problem. Could it be that I shorted something or maybe fried the wires. I was trying to connect my flashlight charger but it was broken and a small piece of metal fell in, it took me a while to take it out but after I did it stopped working. I connected my phone charger and my radar detector and neither worked.

I had the same issue. I would plug in my radar detector. Sometimes it would work then others it would just go out. My solution was to hard wire it.
I never did figure out what happend to the ciggy light..

My sockets work fine, the actual lighter doesn't and I've switched them at least 4 times and I can never get the coils hot. They get lukewarm at best (And the lighters will not stay down without me holding them)
I don't even smoke cigarettes but it still irks the fugg out of me.

Pull out your ashtray, and observe your lighter port. Check underneath the ash tray for any rusting. If this has occurred, take a wire brush, and take the wires off connecting to the assembly.
Take WD-40 and spray, or pour it onto a cotton swab. Scrub the swab over the rusted area to remove it.
Take your wires and attach them again. Cover the wires with electrical tape so corrosion does not occur in the future.
For more information, visit google.
