About the "Rare" Blue GS400 on Ebay...

Well, I traveled 200 miles to buy it yesterday (Newport, RI to NYC), and in my opinion, it is not even close to "mint" as the owner describes it in his ad and in his conversations with me.
Yes, it looks nice from a few feet away, but up close you can see body repair in several places-the rr qtr, the rf and the lf. Some were so bad that you could see the sanding scratches under the paint.
It would also be nearly impossible to put 40K on a car in 3 or so years without it ever being in the rain, unless you live in the desert, I suppose.
My opinion is that it was a poor condition off-lease car that has attempted to be cleaned up, not the cream puff he claims it is. Too bad though, b/c it's quite a nice color combination (blue/Ivory).
I don't really mean to dog the guy, but he could have been honest with me over the phone. I also want to make sure everyone here knows in case they are bidding on it.
E-mail me if you need any other info. I'll be glad to help.

Appreciate the info...
Thanks for the heads up. I had looked at that car just recently, and you're right, pictures sure can lie, as well as people. I can't imagine how furious i'd be if i'd have bought the car and had it shipped to me, only to find what you did. As always, it's buyer beware, and this is a case in point that illustrates how dangerous a bad ebay seller can be.

Hey guys, just lurking around, hope to be joining you soon with a 98 GS 400 ( Will have to have Spoiler, HID, 17's).
Its funny how I saw that same car while I was repairing mine at a body shop in Brooklyn about a month ago. They did a damn good job on mine, and it looked like they did the same on his although I didnt get a close look. Just goes to show you never to buy anything on EBAY without having a chance to see it in person first. I already learned my lesson the hard way when I took a one way flight to Florida from NYC to pick up a "Perfect" car I had found on EBAY.
