j/k. I also think the recaros look extremely stupid in an otherwise luxury car. they belong in a miata or supra etc.
lol thanks guys for agreeing i thought that i was all alone and everybody liked uncle bens... i think what most disturbes me about the seats is the 5 point harness knowing that car wont go fast enuf to use them

At least it's leather!!

The sole purpose of the seat isn't just for cars with high-power. You do not need 500hp to have a warrant for these seats. Some people just like to drive harder and the OEM seats are TERRIBLE for lateral support. There are a few respectable people on this board who can attest to this. I've sat in these seats before and it hugs your body A LOT better.

These seats are not justifiable for those who do not care about driving the car hard. Then again, the guys who do drive their car hard cannot justify air suspension even though many people like it. My point? Its all preference.

For the money you will probably spend on new 3GS seats, can't you just somehow modify the stock seats and add more thigh support and stuff?

The problem with our seats is that the thigh support does not extend far enough for taller people. The Japanese engineers designed these cars for midgets The thigh support is probably my number one complaint though, more than lateral support.

I don't think that they designed with midgets in mind. I think they are small and they think that everyone that buys their cars trucks are small. I have an 00 Tundra. I am 5'11'' on a good day and drive with the seat as far back as it will go.

I actually took a double take, and these M5 seats are right on the money. The recaro seats are a bit too racey for the 2GS, but lateral support on the stock seats is nonexistent. Why do all these suspension mods when you cant even keep yourself in the seat?

I guess you would lose the side air-bags function as well as the memory settings if you went with the Recaro's?

I used to have the name of a guy in sacramento who does all of the lexus seat repairs for the dealer there, he specialises in show cars and i met up with him at the Autorama car show here in fresno and spoke to him about my seats. He can match the leather completely and will rework the seats to your desire. He said he rebuilds the foam padding with memory foam which is way more comfortable, and if you want it built up here or taken away from here he can and it will look like it was factory. If i stumble across his info ill post here. or ill catch up with him in march at the autorama. Oh and you keep your side airbag ect, since hes aproved by lexus to do their upulstry. its all in the stitching if i remeber right. In my opinon, why not work with what you got instead of looseing function, saftey ect to spend a ton of money and time. Just my input

oh, and hee works with eel, snake, ostrige, gator ect if thats what you like. It was the gator that caught my attention in thefirst place. Part of me wants gator accents in my GS but sffraid it would look to cheesey.

I drive a LOT, and my back is often sore after ~45 minutes... If you could send me his info or post it, I would be eternally grateful. Regular comfort + grip when driving hard + Lexus approved + less expensive (hopefully) + side airbags, memory, no retrofitting... ...perfect!

People gotta stop saying midgets here, I felt small in the 2GS's seats

But anyways, I think it's a pretty good seat, at least during my trip from Vancouver to Winnipeg I don't feel uncomfortable at all unlike our BMW or even my old DSM.

I don't know about cornering, but I'm used to it as my DSM does not have any support at all, I always have to drive with 1 hand when I'm getting into turns... sometimes I'll twist my seatbelt before I click in so the bottom strap is tight, then lower the seat back then choke it to lock the belt, and raise the seat back up to tight myself to the seat, but that's only right before I go for a hard drive...

There's a pair of Evo MR Recaros for sale locally but it's 900bucks and I'd have to fab up some sort of rails...

My favorites Aloha's (i forget his screenname) suede Sparcos. I'd kill to have a more ergonomical seat.
