i cant change it in my 2001 GS300
2001 uses gen2 DVD NAV
2002 uses gen3
gen2 and gen3 are very similar so i would think gen3 (2002) would not be able to change it too

 

Thanks for all the replies. Maybe my dad is just getting old. I'm going to get with him over the weekend and see what he's talking about.

 

On page 85 of a 2002 GS owners manual says that in auto mode it is green Mar-May, blue Jun-Aug, Gray Sept-Nov, and beige Dec-Feb. To set this push the menu button. Touch the setup switch then you can pick day or night color. Touch the normal switch to default the map color or the auto switch to change every 3 months.

 

Changing the color of menu's - NO.

Changing colors of maps - yes. Also can be set to change automatically depending on the season.
