Default Fuel injection cleaner

Have anybody ever went to the Dealership to have their fuel system cleaned. I got a coupon from Hendrick Lexus to get it done for $99.99. What does it actually clean?

Any merit to "do it yourself" (DIY) bottles of fuel injector cleaner?

Naw it's not the bottles that you buy at Autozone. they go through your Injectors some how and clean the whole system.

I just had mine done..

It's basically the same if you're putting the solution in the gas tank. The only difference is that it's more concentrated when you run it directly to the fuel rail. Plus, you dont have to wait for a full tank to be empty get the same effect. You would need a good amount of cleaner in the gas tank to get the same concentration as if you were to run it through the fuel injector cleaner canister.

I used lucas fuel injector cleaner (found at autozone) mixed with gasoline in a 50/50 concentration. My injectors were ticking pretty loud, but after the cleaner was performed, the lubrication in the lucas cleaner made everything quieter. Plus I got rid of the rough idle I had. I'm going to see if my fuel economy is restored though, because I've been getting 14/18 mpg.

The cleaner itself is no different really. You can use most cleaners. It's just the process that makes the cleaner work more effectively (and quicker). Smoke was coming out of my tailpipe like crazy. Talk about carbon build-up

Don't think I need to do this yet, but around what mileage is the best time to get the injectors cleaned? Just thought it would be good to know for future reference

That's a good question. I've only been putting the fuel system/injector cleaner every time I get my oil changed. Makes me wonder if putting this in is good enough to clean the fuel system or at some point should I have my car brought in to be professionally cleaned.

The proffessional fuel injection service should be completed every 15k. This service consist of 4 step process to get the job done. The bottle injector cleaner is just one out of the 4 steps.

i used to work for a lexus dealer and we would clean the tb with a chemical cleaner, add an additive in the gas, and then run a injector cleaner through a vacum source. so it chemically cleaned the injector ports along with your tb.

Whats a good place to perform such service in NYC area? I don't trust Lexus dealers, particulary the local Bay Ridge Lexus, I think they will just charge a buttload of money and wont do a complete procedure, probably just add some BG44K to the fuel tank and that's it.

Thanks for the wealth of info SHOCKER. I've never had this done before to any car that I've owned. Besides maintenance reasons, did you feel any difference in the car in terms of performance after yours was done?
