Damn dude, your GS looks like black ice! great job! is that the benefit of wet sanding? what exactly did you do to get that shine? excuse the rookieness, but if you don't mind I would appreciate the break it down Barney style version, would be much appreciated..lol.
P.S. would you get the same affect by rubbing compound?
eskaeone- I used touch up paint to touch up some imperfections in the rear bumper. The 2000 grit sandpaper is to smooth the touch-up paint to the clearcoat's level. Then polish is used to bring the dullness to a shine.
The new thread title should be:
"My GS400 [and girlfriend...] for 2008 (30 pictures; a bunch of MB)"
I can't get my wife to do anything more then sit in the passengers seat....let alone help out. (And she wants me to buy her an RX....hmmm) Thanks whazzzzuup for the fine example, now I can show my wife whuzzup!!
Car looks great with the professional looking photography. What kind of camera are you using and what settings did you use for these shots if you dont mind?

She bought me a Canon 30D for Christmas. I sold my Canon 300D a few months ago. I felt naked without a camera. A lot of moments were lost when I didn't have the camera. Here are a few crappy pictures of my camera setup.
I used to shoot with this body (roommate's) and my 50mm prime (small lens) and L lense (big):
Now this (Xmas gift from her):
For the shots of my girlfriend, I used the 30D and BG-E2 battery grip (for portrait shots) with a Canon 28-80mm f2.8-4.0L lense. The car was shot with the 30D and Canon 50mm f1.8. The car shots were all around f2.8, ISO 100, and 1/1250sec shutter speed. I like the shallow depth of field. The girlfriend shots were shot with a studio flash (in my bedroom), ISO 100, f4.0 and around 1/200sec shutter speed.
very nice ride......the pic of your car covered in winter road grime brings back bad memories of my days in baltimore. but you did a great job cleaning it up.....or ur girl did a great job cleaning it up.
The previous owner seemed to have hit a box-shaped object while backing up. My girlfriend and I were covering most the indentations/white scratches up my touching them up with touch-up paint, wetsanding with 2000 grit, then polishing with a random orbital. It's not perfect, but it is barely noticable now.
The pictures are crappy. I didn't have the Canon 30D at the time. I was shooting with a P&S.
Right after touch-up paint. No sanding yet.
A little bit of sanding:
A lot more sanding:
The results can be seen in the photoshoot pictures.
