I had a 01 540 sport before the GS4. I sold it because the warranty ran out and within a few months the alternator went. On the 01 and on 540's the alternator is liquid cooled. It cost close to $1100 to have a Indy fix it and replace the battery. The BMW dealer wanted close to $1500 for the same fix. In the end I should have known to dump it right after the warranty ran out only because it had alot of little electical issues repaired under warranty and then when it finally ran out the damn alternator gave up.

In the end it was a solid driving and fun, the sport package is a little on the firm side, but the cost without warranty was not worth the risk.
