i'm thinking about doing matte black on my LS when the time comes... as long as the rest of the car fits the overall look that matte black imparts, it will work.

I think this paint job will look great on the 2nd gen IS more so than a 2nd gen GS do to proportions.

Me personally, no. That would also involve getting black steel wheels and ditching the hubcaps to match. But thats just me.

Besides I would be too tempted to coat it with wax, don't know how that will affect it.

+1 I DO like the look of flat black but im worried that it will become outdated quickly, but my gf wants that done to her IS so i told her to really think about it and we came up with a solution to do her car two-tone, the matte-black in the center of the car and to leave the 202 black on the sides..

Looks kinda flat gray to me. The two that I've seen pics of (one in flat black, and the other a flatte white) where really nice.

BTW, the flatte white was my favorite of the two....it wasn't satin white...it was straight flatte white.

not for me. I think it will look dated and boring in a couple of years...unless you respray your car more often that. I like shiney shiney

i saw a BMW locally that was done up like that. you couldn't even tell it was vinyl because the roll they used was so big that there were no seams. looked pretty cool and at the same time - pretty much zero chances of rock chips!
I am considering a flat black for my 2nd generation GS. I live in Massachusetts, with the rocks, sand and salt, maintaining the a paint job would be difficult.

cliffud, if you have any information on costs, pictures, and diy information on a vinyl body covering I would appreciate it.

Thanks

They look good on some cars. I especially like the Mansory Conquistador (Phantom). The car looks so "gansta."
