Personally, I like that look of the non-shiny black or any other color for that matter. But remember, most people think "rattle-can primer" black when they hear the term "flat black". Those low-budget Honda kids will rattle can their car in PRIMER black which is NOT the same as matte or SATIN black. Notice those primer cars always look dirty. Primer basically turns the car into a chalk board on wheels. Water doesn't bead up on it, and it doesn't feel smooth and slick to the touch like a true satin finish.

All those high dollar satin black cars previously pictured are satin black. I did some price estimates on a satin finish paint job for my other car is it is by no means a cheap paint job. Not every painter out there has experience shooting satin finishes. Do a search sometime on some cars with a satin finish paint job.... it looks very good in many colors as long as it's done correctly.

i think flat black looks good but only on cars that have a lot of curve to them. in my eyes, the flat black helps accentuate the curves and the lighting that hits it is ridiculously diffused but because of that, you can see the contour and that (imo) is what makes it look sexy.

Not a big fan of this "flat" fad. Different for sure, but not for me. It's funny a good number of us spend lots of money on quality waxes, polishes, and/or sealants to give our cars depth, color, and clarity--giving it that "glow." This "flat fad" just completely goes against that thought--absolutely no refelctions can be seen in the pics. I feel like any vibrance and life to the car pretty much disappears as all light seems to be absorbed away--a "Darth Vader" like feeling it. At first glance, I thought the flat/matte looked cool (something different), however, very shortly aftwards, I couldn't keep away the pervasive thought of the car painted in flat/matte being made of unfinished, unrefined plastic--to a point of cheapening the car and causing me to lose any emotional feeling I may have had for it (namely the Ferrari).

Is different, unique good? For some, yes, anything to stand from the crowd to be different--but for me, the flat/matte appearance is too showy, too unrefined, devoid of emotion, and in a word, cheap appearing. However, to each his own though
