Default Q45 Retro Headlights?? Bluelex?

Hello,

I was wondering how hard is it to install q45 headlights that have already been retro'ed in GS housings? What kind of trouble am I looking at? I have just the OEM ones right now with HID. Is this sort of plug and play thing? What all is needed or has to be changed in order to fully have these headlights up and running. I want a breakdown to see if I want to go through the trouble to get these. Also how is the cutoff on it? Is it BMW/INFINITI type cut off? Bluelex could you please shed some light on this thread? Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I don't need to retro them, they are already inside the housings. I just need to know how complex is it to install them? What tabs need to be there? Will they fit oem HIDs, do i need new ballasts and bulbs in all?

whoa thats a totaly different story.. to install you need to take your front bumper off, tabs will be there, and it all depends on bulb size my car did not come with factory HID's so im using an after market set..

So do they have to have after market HID on them all, I know yours did but what about bluelex and all. I need to ask him see what approach he took. Anyone else who has Q45, can you please advise.

thanks

Find out what bulb size it is and then piece together a kit

2 xenon bulbs-its probably D2S
2 ballast
Power adapters from D2S bulb to ballast
and relay if needed

You already have HID on your stock housings.

You'll need to remove the ballasts from the stock housings, bolt them onto your new housings, buy some d2s bulbs, plug in everything, and drive off.

Did you buy the ones from njzprettyboy or whatever?

BMW/infiniti cut off isnt that great from what I researched.

I made thread on a how-to for a Q45 retro in the lighting section; just translated it from ClubAristo.

Or you can get a dremel and mod you d2r bulbs by cutting a small notch so they will fit the projector housing that will get you going until you get some fresh bulbs

Yes, but you'll lose a bit of output.

thanks for the input guys but here is what njzprettyboy said

"they use a D2S bulb...I am using the Lexus slim ballasts which are on the rx300/is300. they were mounted to the bottom of the headlight as you can see in the pictures."
