Default Need some help on daytime running lights

I jus recently bought a beautiful 98 GS400 recently and was wondering if anyone can help me with something. The car does not have HID and it has daytime time running lights. The daytime running lights appear to be the low beam headlights and not the highbeam ones. At night, I noticed there is no difference between the brightness of the daytime running lights and the headlights when they are on. Anyhows, cutting to the chase, I was wondering if there is a way to disable the daytime running lights without messing up the lowbeam headlights??? Also, note that I will be purchasing a Phillips HID kit soon. Any help would be appreciated. Thankx!

Welcome to the club MRGS400nSoCali.

For 2000GS4, there is a place under the hood you can unplug to disable the DRL and will not affect the function of the high beam. Don’t know too much on the 98GS w/o HID. However, once you unplug that, you will have the high beam warning light show up on the console.

The plug is on the driver side of the engine bay around the strut tower. There is a small black metal bracket holding a heat sink device that plug is attaching to. Unplug that and DRL will be disabled.

Welcome to CL Martin.

First, please use the SEARCH funtion at the top of the page to find your answers.

We've discussed DRLs until we are HID in the face

The short answer:

I'm not sure. I've got factory HIDs, and I have wedge bulbs that can function as my DRLs, but they are really activated with my Parking lights (1 click on the stalk).

They are not on all the time, and I can turn all my lights off whenver I want.
