Well I was programming a new Lexus key to my car and well followed all the steps, programmed the transponder etc so it'll crank up with the key. Then wanted to program the remote so it will lock unlock etc and well it involves the whole locking and unlocking the door 5 times and then another 5 times (at least, thats the way I've found to program the remote) well anyhow.. so I was programming it and locked it and unlocked it a couple of times and well I noticed that my driver side door was'nt locking. I left it alone for a couple of minutes and the driver side will lock and unlock twice and the third time it looks like it's trying but it doesnt have enough juice to push the lock in. Is my door lock actuator messing up? If so is there any other way to program the remote without the whole locking and unlocking cycle? hmm.. bah humbug
It is a 2001 GS300, any help would be much appreciated.

Your actuator is dead. I recently rebuilt actuators for someone on this forum (3 out of 4 actuators) and he went to the dealer to get his key programmed. Lexus couldn't program it because the 4th actuator broke that day (day after I replaced the other 3). I ended up having to fix the final door lock actuator. You will need all the actuators to work to program the key yourself
However, you can still program the key, but only if you use a Toyota scanner. Not sure how much the dealer will charge for that.
