Outcome’s pretty much what I would have expected. The biggest variable (given that the cars were all stock) would be the type/layout of road course and skills of the drivers. I’d expect even a modified GS to have trouble with an M3 on a short road course. They do handle.
Sad to say that handling is inborn in the beamers, it’s in their soul – designed in from the beginning. A pie chart would show a bigger piece allocated to handling on the Beamer pie than on the Lexus one. Yes, we can modify our cars to compete and surpass the BMW’s handling, if that’s what we want. We have that option, but they can’t modify their “ultimate driving machines” to the overall quality level of a Lexus.
Those of us who chose a Lexus accepted the trade-off of ride quality, comfort, interior design, dependability, dealer service, and overall engineering. And for this, we gave up a little handling. Still a superior choice, I’d say, even if we do occasionally take second to a BMW.
