Difference between long keys and short keys?
When I bought my 2000 GS 300, it didn't come with the master key. It only came with a short blade valet key cut as a master, and a long blade "lock-out" key (can't start car with).
I purchased a new key fob and I guess it's a short blade? Gonna have my ECU reflashed tomorrow.
So my question is, what's the difference between the sizes?
Thanks

are you sure it is only cut as a master key?
use the security light trick to see how the key is programmed (possibly saving you some $$)
unlock the car, get in, watch the blinking light to your left, if the light immediately goes out and doesnt come back on as you stick your key in to the ignition, then your key is programmed as a master and you can program the new key yourself w/o going to the dealership and having them reflash or program the key for u....
its worth a try man!

Yeah I already did that. The key is cut as a master (opens everything) BUT programed as a valet (security light stays on when the key is inserted).
