Default Headlight reminder beep?

I could find what I was looking for while searching. So maybe someone has the answers I'm looking for.

1. Is the a reminder beep/alarm if you leave your healights on after leaving the car? This happened before I replaced my battery. The switch was on auto and I was on lunch listening to the radio in the middle of the day. I had the sunshades up and it was blocking the sensors so the headlights were on. Thus, killing my battery. So I don't use this function any longer and prefer to manually turn on/off the headlights but I don't have that alarm when exiting the car before turning off the lights like most cars.

2. I've noticed the dome light (I meant to say vanity light next to the Home Link) doesn't turn off if accidently left on after leaving the car. It was on for about 20min. before my friend came over my house and told me I forgot to turn it off. Is this normal?

Thanks in advance.

Our car doesn't have a reminder beep for the headlights b/c if you hit the lock button twice on your remote, it'll automatically turn off.

The dome light doesn't turn off by itself either.

no reminder beep for the headlights, but they shut off automatically, and as for the domelight, it shuts off automatically when u lock the car with ur remote only if you set the dome lights to the "door" setting.

If you left the light on in the ON position as opposed to the DOOR or OFF positions, it will not go out automatically, you may end up with a dead battery. (Trust me, I learned the hard way) The map lights also aren't affected by the auto off features.

The double lock only works if you have the lights on auto if I'm correct. They will automaitcally turn off vs. a delay after you lock your car. I"m going to have to test that. I don't use the auto lights and do it maunally as reason was stated previously. I'd rather it be my own fault the battery dies.

Ok, I said dome light but I meant the vanity light I guess. The center front lights next to the home link. That didn't turn off. Maybe after an extended period of time it will but after 20 mins of it being on it didn't turn off in my case.

Guys guys guys... Our car does have the headlamp reminder... if you look at my last post in "cool things that are known about the GS" You can actually change the setting such as the headlamp reminder, 2 clicks to shut lights off, auto-lamps, keyless access, one touch locks, beeping and hazard when you lock or unlock you car... etc.. You have to bring you car to a Toyota/Lexus dealership, and there they can plug in the Techstream (toyota scantool) and change your customizeable settings...

The car will shut off the headlights when you double click the lock button whether it is in Auto or Manually on..... They should also shut off in around 30-45 seconds after you lock the car by pushing the lock button once. Hope that helps (by the way my car does NOT have a reminder beeb 2000 gs4) -Joe

ok.... First YOU CAN PROGRAM YOUR CAR TO HAVE THAT AUTO SHUT OFF WITH 2 CLICKS FEATURE. YOU CAN CONTROL THE AMOUNT OF TIME YOUR HEADLIGHTS STAY ON 30 seconds, 60 seconds, 90 seconds OR OFF!!!! (By the way, your 2000 GS DOES have a headlight reminder, however like most factory programmed GS's the feature is turn off... I am a toyota technician i just changed my friends setting on a 98 GS400, anyone who doesn't want to read this or believe me can just keep on postin....

hmmm. I've read about the dealer being able to change settings but how much do they charge? Don't tell me the $80ish labor charge?

Why don't you just keep it in full auto and then double click the lock button, that's what I do

I usually double click the lock button. Reason for using manual was stated in my first post.

Well, about the cost i am not sure. I work for Toyota so i can just use our shops techstream, but it took about 15 mins to run through all the customizeable settings such as illuminated entry, security functions, keyless, auto-lamps, etc...
