Default clicking noise from rear end??

throughout time i thought this may be normal, i dont know if i had this sound when i got the car. well everytime i step on the pedal and give the car gas, i would hear a click from the rear end. i cant really tell if my car is losing power. or if my tranny is about to go out or differential. i can try and record the sound but i dont know if the apexi exhaust will over lap the sound.

I find it hard to believe that a clicking sounds would be a bad rear diff. Usually if they go bad they start to humm over about 35 mph. You need to put it on a rack and see if you can duplicate the sound for a mechanic to see what your problem really is!

i had a similar click from rear break pads

In mine when you back up and then go forward you heard a click.

Fix was adjust the springs on the rear break pads.

Can you tell if it is on one side or both? I had that clicking too, and it was also the brake pads. I removed the pads and put a coat of RTV on the mating surfaces in the caliper and the noise disappeared.

When was the last time the differential gear oil was changed? I changed mine Friday night after 100,000 miles. The synthetic gear oil was still in very good shape. I use AMSOIL Extreme Pressure Synthetic 75W90 gear oil.

i just had this problem this morning... i was reversing out of my parking spot and the rear tires went up onto a patch of leftover snow... when i braked to stop, i put the car into park and i hear click click click and felt like the car wasn't going anywhere... maybe it really was but i couldn't feel it because of slippage on the snow???

is the adjustment of the spring on the caliper that holds the pads in place??? does it just need brake grease???

Sounds like axles to me. Check if the rubber boots are busted.

Any follow-up info on these issues?

I found this thread in a search, I'm observing some clicking while backing up and when I hit the gas. Sounds like it's brake related from what I've read here and in other threads.

I changed out my rear brake pads thinking that was the noise but it ended up being the spring on the e-brake when it is disengaged. This probably isn't the problem you're experiencing though.
