Getting a standalone aftermarket engine management should defeat the speed limiter. I'll report back here in a month once I get to test it out

From Lexus web site (2002 model):
GS430:
0-60 mph acceleration 5.8 seconds[8]
- 1/4-mile acceleration 14.3 seconds[8]
- Top track speed 149 mph (electronically limited)[8]
- Fuel consumption 18/23 mpg city/highway[9]
- Aerodynamic drag coefficient 0.29

GS300
- 0-60 mph acceleration 7.8 seconds[6]
- 1/4-mile acceleration 15.8 seconds[6]
- Top track speed 144 mph[6]
- Fuel consumption 18/25 mpg city/highway[7]
- Aerodynamic drag coefficient 0.29

I keep hoping that some really smart guy (smarter than me, which isn't saying a lot) will research the Lexus computer codes that control engine management (Timing, fuel mixture, temperature, transmission shift points RPM limiter, top speed limit etc) without the constraints placed on the manufacturers by government edicts.

This smart dude would then design and market an IC with the program modifications. This IC would be tailored for the customer's individual preferences, say, add 1000 RPM to the top shift points and tell the trans to downshift sooner. It could be plugged into the computer thru the diagnostic port. Unplugging it would return the car to the default programming.

If the above sounds a little far fetched, it's exactly what one of the guys in the Taurus SHO group did. He researched and broke Ford's computer codes and marketed an IC that overrode the factory settings that sold for $200.00 each. He offered to change the programming at request. Anyone who was seriously into performance with one of these cars had to have one. I keep hoping that one of those guys is lurking around here.

Amazing, I went to Search, advanced search, typed in "limiter", searched under "limiter" and a slew of threads popped up.

If your car is stock you will have trouble getting past the limiter anyways.
