Why are my lights dimming?

Long long long long time ago when I was a car audio newb, I ran too small of a wire to my amplifier. Every time the bass hits, the light would dim. When the bass hits hard enough, the amp would cut out. If your power/ground wire is too small and your amp needs a large amount of power for that one big bass note, the amp isn't going to get enough power. It's simply shut down due to low voltage issue since amplifiers require a minimum voltage for it to run.
My requirement for any subwoofer amp is 4 gauge, just incase you might need to upgrade amp later on. Right now I'm running 0/1 gauge with no problem

I'm going to take my car into circuit city to find out what gauge wire they have. It sounds like I might need a Big 3 upgrade. I know that inlcudes that grounding wire but what else does it entail?
