i own a gs400 and find it hard to beleive that you just compared it to a e46 m3. i think the gs3 is more luxury but the gs4 is a torque monster. it is hard to pick one or the other so i say its luxursporty. that is my word copyrighted here

Luxury all the way...
I would say the 5 series as well as the E class both out handle the GS. Of course the GS has a multitude of aftermarket upgrades that can enhance performance, but I think at it's core, the GS is a Sporty "looking" luxury car.

I think it's a third group called power luxury. Something like a heavy weight boxer. You could get something that will drive rings around it but you don't want to "mess"(insert another 4 letter word of your choice) with it straight up.

Stock configuration definately luxury side.
I vote sport because the way I have my car setup. I'll take you for a ride if you want to dispute that lol. But then again, it's not a full out sports car. I'll still take a Corvette Z06 if I really want to go all out. Even though my GS is faster than a Z06, the Vette is still much more fun to drive. Speed issue can be fixed by fitting twin turbos to the vette
And yes, my next car will be a C6 Z06...and boosted as well

Pole Position
That is truly hard to believe.
The GS is too big and soft in stock form to be considered a great handling car. It's certainly more luxury than sport, but I guess it matters what you are comparing it to. Compared to an Olds, it's sporty as hell...compared to a 5-series BMW, it's a luxo-boat.
It's all a matter of perspective.
