Default Have you ever changed the knock sensors?

(GS 400 -2000) The scanner say both are bad... (I'm not completely sure) One mechanic told me the intake manifold have to be removed. This involve a lot of work. Is similar to change the starter...
any idea...? Want to do myself

See the post "me car doesn't run as before"

yes the intake manifold needs to be removed to access the knock sensors. If you are DIYer then it shouldn't be a hard thing to do. Just make sure nothing falls down into the intake and double check before you put it all back together. Nothing worse than having something fall in and bend some valves

Knock sensors usually dont go bad at all, and especially both of them.

I remember a long time ago we used to tap on them with a screw driver and the idle would slow down (retard). Is that still a valid way to test these?

Also I posted: my car doesn't run as before...

Finally find the culprit. See the pictures. WOW
Also the vacuum hoses was ate.
Very close to catch in fire... lucky me it didn't!

Labor to fix: $250 plus $40 in new plugs and wires.
Forgot to take pictures when fix was made

Ummm...that doesn't have anything to do with the knock sensors going bad.
Glad you found your issue though!
