RedTek R12a kit
Any fellow CL members used this recharge kit on their 2nd Gen GS? I bought this kit during the summer, but never had the chance to use it on my car. I know my A/C isn't blowing cold air anymore, instead it blows hot air. Should i get it checked for leaks first before i do anything?

First of all the 2GS uses R134a refridgerant. And yes make sure to get your system checked for leaks. The AC system should never lose refridgerant under normal operation unless there is damage or a leak somewhere. Make sure to get the leak fixed first before you attempt to recharge the system. Otherwise it will just be a waste of money.

BAD IDEA!! R12a will deteriorate the rubber seals and o-rings in your system. If you choose to do that, you will be replacing every single component in your AC system, we just had to tell someone that the other day with an avalon. Spend the few extra bucks and goto your dealer to have them charge it with a color tracer so if there are any leaks, the die will be shown with a UV light. Not to lead you to beleive that it is an easy fix, but most of the 2GS problems are schrader valves.. like valve stem cores...
