I'm going to do my tune-up outside the dealer...
I'm crossing 95K miles. I'm going to take my car, 1999 GS4, to my local mechanic in Astoria, Queens. I'm going to show him the list someone here posted about what is done to the car during this service. I've known the guy for years but i'm still a little bit nervous about the whole thing.
I'm also getting the ball-joints replaced. I have a really, really annoying noise that comes from under the car anytime i go over the slightest pot-hole. It almost sounds like if i had a bunch of bricks in the trunk and they got shuffled around. I'm planning have my mechanic look at this issue but if anyone else here has the same problem it would be great to get some feedback.
The other major issue that bothers me is this big clunk noise that seems to come from the huge thing (transmission?) that separates the two back seats. It makes the sound that a bicycle would make if you're trying to pedal but the chain snaps into place. I freakin hate that sound.
My point of this post is to ask what sort of things can i look to in order to check if all the parts have been properly replaced? Should i take before and after pics? Would there be a significant difference in driving feel?
When i got a tune-up on my old TL, i didn't notice anything different about the driving feel.
Anyways, thanks for listening and any type of feedback would be greatly appreciated.
