Default 01 GS430 quit running...

My first failure in my GS after 4 years. Taking my little girl to visit grand parents. At the red light of a busy intersection. The car shuts off and failed to start. I mean nothing dash board lights are on but that's it. Well lucky the police showed up and AAA tow truck after 15 minutes. Having it towed to a lexus dealership. The car has 82,500 miles on it hasn't been driven in a few weeks. Battery seems good. Just no clicking or anything when you turn the key. What can it be??? NO CEL

Hmmm no clicking at all? Did they check your starter?

Hmmmmm... that's strange, Nate. Keep us posted on what the dealer says. Hope you had it towed to Lindsay in Alexandria so Brad could take care of you.

Wow... this is strange... I would definitely have the dealership check this out. If there's no clicking, then your battery is good. I think it could either be your starter, or a fuse.

Have it checked out =] Good thing you're safe!

You know I did, he has his guys looking over it. But they so far are stumped. Hopefully it is something simple.

I am shooting for a fuse, if so then I think I know what happened. I removed a after market amp yesterday and disconnected the power wire from the battery, so I thought. Wondering if it grounded out and a caused a fuse to blow. It's a scary feeling stuck on a busy highway with a 19 month old toddler. Lucky Park Police came by they know a friend of mine who I went to the Academy with. So the baby got to ride home in the cruiser. Too bad she won't remember it.

Oh forgot to mentioned that the tow truck tore off my TTE Lip. The guy was being very careful, put blocks up and everything but the cable took it right off. He was very apologetic and everything. I told don't worry, my priority is getting the baby home, just throw it in the car and I will deal with it later.

i had that happen to me once too...car was running fine, then all of a sudden it just shut off...no lights, nothing....but in my case, it started back up

i tightened up my battery connections and it has not happened since....since you were messing w/ the battery that day, maybe check to see if the battery connections are real tight?

i'd like to hear what lindsay has to say bout this too...very weird...

Sounds like a loose, or rusted negative battery terminal.

i always thought that once car was running you could unhook battery and car would still run. That is how I used to test if it was alternator or battery. Is something different on lexus. I would think alternator if it was me. but i am by know means a mechanic.

UPDATE: AM2 fuse blew. Phew, I thought it was something major. But she is all repaired and ready to go. Hopefully it is a one time thing. I am thinking that removing the aftermarket amp may have been the cause. Make sure I tape the wires up or remove them. THANKS BRAD. You the Man!!!!

The problem was the removal of the aftermarket Amp, even though the main power wire was diconnected from the battery. I failed to tape the ends of the remote on wire and the ground leads in the trunk. So u know what happened when those 2 touched. I brund electrical tape to tape the down and my dumb azz grounded them out right out the dealership with the car running. My wife laughed so hard. I think I even seen a giggle from the baby. "Dad's an idiot". Replaced fuse, taped everything up start the car when on my way. Again want to thank BRAD at Lindsey Lexus. Great Guy Great Service.
