Default Local Lexus Dealer feeding me some Bull

I went to my local dealership today to get a copy of service records on my newly purchased gs400 and try to get key code so I can get a master key cut. They told me they couldnt give it to me and that the only one that could cut lexus keys is lexus. They told me they could do it for 230 dollars or something like that for a master remote key. I was told that as long as I showed proof of ownership they would give me the key code. They told me that wasnt true. are they feeding me bull or what. I was planning on buying a remote key off ebay and programming it myself and haveing a lock smith cut it. If i dont have keycode it will cost me 15 more dollars. What is up with this?

yeah, i heard that bull too. my friend just got the key off eBay, got the key cut, and paid a lil extra to get a keycode. don't waste your time going to Lexus. they can say whatever they want, unless it's in the papers you signed.

Are key codes still stamped on the front passenger cylinder lock?
