I am currently looking at a couple 1999 GS300's for sale with about 100-110k miles, for around $10,000...very clean nice looking cars. The car will mostly be for highway driving to and from work.
My wife and I have a 2005 RX330 with 30,000 miles that we absolutely love, but we are cautious of cars with over 100k miles. From reviews I have read these cars should have another 100k, at least, left in them.
Is this a worth while investment, or I am going to end up paying to much in repairs and maintenance in the next 50-70k miles?
Any comments and suggestions and comments would be greatly appreciated!

oh btw the only thing to really change when you get it is the ball joints and that shouldnt be too expensive at all and to also look for the 90k (timing belt/ alternator/ spark plugs/ and water pump-- id change em to be sure but i just did the 60k on my car and i didnt change em because they were fine)

Service is expensive relative to toyota, nissan but on par with BMW, mercedes. You can reduce it by doing it yourself or using an independent mechanic.
The car market sucks right now. I wouldn't be surprised if you could get 1-2K off those prices. You are buying a older (like 8yrs+ old) luxury car that is heavy and sucks gas (i.e. I have the GS400 lol) so supply is there and demand should be light.

Service intervals on the GS happen in 30K intervals (30,60,90,120) with the 90K being the big service. Outside of that expect to replace lower ball joints (suspension part) and the starter every 80-90K miles.

Are you serious? it is no where near BMW or Mercedes, last time I checked basic maintenance it doesnt cost me over $100 for an oil change and no where near $500+ for a brake job even done at the stealership. It is a little more expensive then toyota but not much. Besides with any car preventative maintenance is always better then waiting for something to break, then it'll be expensive no matter what car u drive.

i think that as long as the maintenance has been done it should be A-OK. but keep looking around for lower mileage GS's. I got my 2000 platinum edition w/ 53k for 15 grand, as opposed to 18 from a dealer.

Example: 120K service is 1510 at the dealer, 680 from the independent Lexus mechanic. Oil change is $175 at the dealer and $60 from Jiffy for syntho.
