OEM HID vs Halogen Pictures FYI...
This is for all of you who wonder about the HID Kit. The first set is what happens when you just put a kit into a 9006 socket. In my personal experience, it does cause glare, but it is not unbearable if it is aimed really low, but fuctionality is a different story. At the same time on the GS when your driving by someone, the reflectors will direct light to the car right next to you.
I've seen other GS with kits, it seems to go everwhere, especially the blue ones. I like the color, but they had it aimed wrong. I need HID fogs too... just a thought. Anyways:
Halogen
OEM HID (No need for retrofit comparisons I suppose)
For those who have OEM HIDs, can you comment how your pattern is? I have these weirld triangle things coming out of the middle of my pattern, and it seems to leak to the side, but not as much.

This is with the OEM HID housings? I have the same light pattern. I bought new headlights with the green tint, but my car is non-HID. The back of the housing says to use D2R bulbs or something like that (can't remember), but I'm just using the halogen 9006. What housings do I have???

I'm not even sure if I have the HID housing. I have the same light pattern, but the 9006 went in normally even though the back of the housing said to use d2* bulbs (i dont remember which ones). That's why I'm asking what housings do i have?

Okay nevermind. I'm 100% positive that I have the NON-HID housings (or the back half of the headlights at least). However, the light pattern I have is the same as the OEM HID. Weird Halogen headlights don't use this pattern right? I wonder if these green tint housings have the HID reflector bowls or something?
EDIT: skaiyun sorry for totally highjacking your thread! I'm very sorry. Those triangles appear to be normal I suppose.

Hid and non-hid do not necessarily have to have different cutoffs. The DOT (Department of Transportation) may just tell the manufacturers "hey... I want you guys to have this certain cutoff at this height...and blah blah blah". Then it's up to the manufacturer to create a bowl that fits the DOT criteria. Take a look at some of the current toyota camry halogen projectors. It has the same cutoff as most HID projectors.
