Default Timing Belt Change at 60k and 94k

I have a Canadian Edition 1998 GS400 with 143,000 km (89,000 miles). All of the specified scheduled services have been performed to date (by same Lexus dealer).

Reviewing my Owner's Manual Supplement, I noticed that a second timing belt change is required at 150,000 km (94,000 miles), with a third change at 192,000 km (120,000 miles). The timing belt was changed once already at 96,000 km (60,000 miles).

Is the USA service schedule the same? Seems like a bit of overkill to change it again at 150,000...

I don't know why it was changed at 60,000 miles, it didn't need to be changed until 90,000 maybe there was a problem with it? Well, anyways I guess you should just follow the service suggestions/requirements, it doesn't hurt to be safe

my manual says it should be done at 96,000 kms...maybe it's the colder weather up here in Canada? salt on the roads? kinda weird

Not sure, sorry I'm in Florida but I do know that over here the manual suggests that the first timing belt replacement should be at 90,000 miles, dunno what that is in km?

90,000 miles is 144,000 km.

I'm guessing that maybe the manual is in error and the 150,000 km change is not supposed to be there.

Probably just supposed to be 96,000 km and 192,000 km (60,000 miles and 120,000 miles) I'll ask my dealer...
