17" or 18" wheels?
I'm getting new tires and rims this Friday for my GS430. What size do you guys recommend or does it matter? I'm thinkin maybe 17" cuz I dont know if it'll be worth the extra cost for 18" I dont want to go with 20"s on a car

the bigger the wheels, the more cost it will be.
but, bigger wheels give u more aggressive look, tho.
but, either way, try to go with the staggered setup.
like 17x8.5+17x9.5, 18x8.5+18x10
so, ur rear tires can be wider...
dont rush into anything. keep ur eyes open and check what people have on CL. u can see a lot of pictures if u spend some times browsing around on CL.
i think 18 is most popular choice based on the look + comfort + cost.
CL has a few wheel vendors, u should check with them first. they do carry quality wheels with decent price.

Honestly, I feel that if you're going to go with 16, 17, or 18 inch wheels you might as well roll stockers. No point in getting aftermarket 17's or even 18's (on a GS) IMO. The smallest I'd go with is 19's or I wouldn't change at all.
Are you in a situation where you absolutely have to get new wheels right now?

i went with 18s for my GS...which reminds me. I still haven't bought the tires yet. but anyway, i went with 18s primarily because i have to avoid potholes. i didn't want to risk riding on rubberbands and bending expensive rims.
to answer your question, definitely 18s over 17s. 18s are on the borderline when it comes to looks. some love 'em and some say they're too small. others have recommended 19+ already and i agree. again, the main reason i didn't go larger than 18s is because of the road conditions in MI.

18's are really the way to go. There are some great buys here on CL, www.tirerack.com, and D2. As a matter of fact, Tire Rack has some GREAT O.Z. wheel on sale in both 18 and 17 (if you go smaller).
