Mods - I know this is an audio/video question, but it is specific to the 2GS.
I am having issues with my head unit (eclipse avn6600) cutting off when the volume is up and a deep bass note hits. Before I do anything drastic, like upgrade the alternator or install a second battery (I am running an Optima Yellow Top now), I wanted to see if re-grounding my amp/cap would solve the problem. All suggestions are welcome, and if you could please post a pic or tell me where you grounded you system out I would appreciate it very much.

the head unit itself cuts off, then immediately turns back on, and will repeat until the volume is turned down

These should help. My installer ended up doing a partial custom grounding job based on these pics that he sheathed to look like the other wiring underhood. My issue was noise, not clipping but it definitely made a difference for me (in sound not performance as discussed in these links).

Are you using the factory harness/wiring to power your deck?If your headunit is turning off I would check the wiring to the deck. Maybe the deck ground or power wire is loose. Im thinking the bass is shaking a loose wire causing a short and causing the deck to turn off/on when the beats hit.

it sound like you don't have the deck ground hooked up. Try removing the deck ground and move it to behind the glove box. Another thing to do is to bolt a wire to the deck and ground the other end. The stereo is working or getting ground from the antenna connector.
