Default Saw a Blue 1998 GS400 on the dealer lot!!!

With black interior. Sweet looking with 17 inch rims and 50,000 miles on it.

Sticker said $34,000 but I went to edmunds to find the dealer retail and it says $26,801, What gives?

Also, I saw a black one with the exact same miles for the same exact price except is was '99.

Blue/black indeed is a rare combo, but 34k for a 1998 gs4 is a bit high

I was unaware that were a distinction between lighter and darker blues on the 98 GS's.

It's just the Spectra Blue Mica folks...

I agree, I'm sure if I really wanted the car I could get him down to about $31,000 or so. What do you think? Is that still high?

Hmm, I've seen 98's gs4's go for around 26-28k on the lot. Push him down to under 30k and then you yourself a great deal.

Ya I think I'm going to do that. It also comes with the 100k warranty do that is good.

I was also going to see if I could get a GS400 cheaper at the auction since I have connections but those cars don't come with the extended warranty and you don't really know the condition of it until you actually see it yourself. But if I can get it really cheap I will go the auction route. I should be getting the prices sent to me soon so I'll post them here just so you guys can get an idea if you want me to.

Default Lexus CPO and crack...the mystery revealed.

When it comes to Lexus CPO cars on the dealer lots, Lexus dealers are high on crack. This is pretty much true across the board. Lucky for them, the war on drugs has taken a back seat lately.

Here are some examples of drug-induced euphoria among Lexus dealers:

Mission Viejo:

1997 Lexus GS300, Ebony Teal, approx 65M.
Original asking price: $29,890
The price has been declining steadily, but it's still at about $25K or $26K.

Comment to the dealer: Ah, you guys know that's the old body style, right? The fair market price for that car is probably between $18K-$19K.

Longo:

1997 Lexus GS300, Ebony Teal, approx 66M.
Original asking price: $28,900

Comment to dealer: I found this car in the LA Times and the internet sales manager called me. When he told he the price, I laughed at him. He did not seem to share my amusement.

Wow!! that's ridiculous. I hear ya man, when he told me the price of that car I had to contain myself from laughing. I have seen the same cars in the papers for $4,000 or so less.

I just appraised the Blue Gs400 and came up with a price of $28,000 to $30,025 depending on the exact condition.

I am also researching to buy either a '99 or 2000 GS400 or maybe a '98 or '99 BMW 540I. What I found out is that the price is usually about 3-4K more than what the edmunds reports. I don't know how edmunds calculates the price but from my experience in researching for the late model luxury cars, edmunds' prices are just too low. Or should I say, you will be lucky to purchase anything close to Edmunds' price.
