Awesome info here, you guys are GREAT! I was not aware of the ball joint issue so that is something I will definitely check with each car I'm potentially going to buy.

btw, I forgot to mention in my first post but my budget is just around $10k for a good example. If the color is white, has the right mods I want and has super low miles (less than 80k miles) then I don't mind paying a slighty more.

I'm searching E-bay, cars.com, Autotrader but if you guys see a nice example please post here! I'm a cash buyer so no BS'ing once I find the right car.

For those of you who were asking for pics of my GT3, check out this recent photoshoto thread with my other car:

cheers,

hey guys, I KNOW the GS400 is a problem free car and I love the car which is why I'm looking at buying another one. (I rarely buy the same car twice except for my s2000)

ok I'll keep checking Craiglist and local ads - my budget is realistically about $10k since I don't want another car to mod, sorta...

1. Glove box rattles in cold weather (fixable using thin felt per post by CL member Blanco).
2. Moonroof sunshade rattle (either leave 95% closed or fully open and it won't rattle--unless it was fixed under warranty). Factory TSB on it--however, I haven't found a good solid fix (see my post of the factory TSB).
3. The center console wood can rattle (again fixable using thin felt per post by CL member Blanco).
4. The regular Pioneer radio will have its LED go out. Replaceable with an LED replacement from a OEM major electronics supplier (the name is escaping me, but do a CL search of one of my posts). You can also get a 01+ radio to direct drop in (you'll need a harness adapter)--that's what I've got (better Auto Volume Leveler and has the RDS capability and LCD that won't go out on you).
5. Sometimes the early headlights (hit/miss) will have a small leak and you'll get condensation in the lense. You can replace the lense (no electronics) itself for about $200 each for new OEM (just transfer all electronics including ballast, bulbs and computer to the new capsule) or do a DIY and reseal the current capsule. A new full, complete headlight is about $1000/each (for comparison's sake).
6. Low, rough idle affects some cars (fix: clean your MAF sensor and throttle body may help)

I can't think of much else on the top of my head. It's been mechanically very solid car otherwise. Good luck.
My 99 has quite a few of those issues. The dead pixels on the LCD are partcularly annoying. On top of that, when the temperature drops below 30 degrees, the suspension sounds like it frozen and every bump rattles the chit out of the car - it's almost embarrassing because it's so loud.

Thanks for the offer, I'm usually back in Naperville around June so I'll let you guys know, would be awesome to have an s2000/lexus meet I'll be in a RX350 if the meet is Chicagoland. Help me find a 99/00 in the Chicago area and I'll come there to pick it up in person ....rick
Rick,

The last Prelude forum I was on was way back in the HondaPrelude.com days. After that it's been mainly Honda-Tech and S2Ki (where I've talked to you before as an UMW Community Organizer).

It's no problem finding you a GS out this way; they seem to be a dime a dozen out here.

If I come across something, I'll PM you here and at S2Ki.
