Default How many miles PAST 90k did you do your 90k Service?

Reason being is that im at 98k miles now. I had a daily so i held it off, the GS was the weekend car.

Now the GS is the daily car but I dont have $1000 right now to do the maintenance.

I want to know for those that have done the 90k PAST 90k miles... what mileage did you have when you finnaly did it?

Im not going to wait like 20k miles before doing it I just want to know if I will be okay for a few thousand more.

You should be fine but I wouldn't push it much further. $1000.00-2500.00 is a lot less expensive than a new or used motor, IMO..

I did my 90K service @ 91K. I'd rather be safe than sorry...just my .02

I did mine at 90,200 miles. Hehe.

It all depends on the climate you live in also. I've heard stories of owners whose timing belt have snapped on them prematurely (before 90K) because they lived in hotter climates (Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, etc.). In those drier climates, I guess the belt is more prone to cracking from the heat. It might depend also on where you park your car I guess. If the car is sitting all day in ultra hot or freezing temps. I park in garages everywhere I go (Work, School, Home)so it climate controlled for the most part. I just changed right around 90k miles because I had some funds available and I wanted to sleep well at night.

I think I did mine at 87k. The belt did not show any wear, but the water pump was in the starting stage of going bad. I know some people have gone up to 140k without changing the belt, but I don't recommend that. 100k should be ok, after that it can be a coin flip.

Your car, your money, your call. Just keep an eye out on any serious wear. Pop the hood at least once a week and give it a close inspection. You dont wanna be driving on borrowed time.

My buddy was at 150-160k miles before he did anything to the car. I was surprised to see the belt was still in okay condition.

Toyota rubber parts are historically famous for being very high quality, so there probably is some significant extra life in the timing belt, unless there is weather-related wear as discussed by sleeper408. Water pump should let you know if it is starting to fail. If you can take the time to remove covers and inspect the timing belt, you could sleep better at night while putting it off.
