245/35/R20 or 275/45/R20
Hi,
I am looking at some 20's with the tires on them for my '00 gs300. On the site where I am planning on getting them it reads they come with 245/35/R20 or 275/45/R20.
When I called to double check if they would fit (site said they did), the guy informed me the 245's might rub, he then suggested going with 225/35/R20. He said the 275's wouldn't work at all even though the site said they would. I know don't know anything wheels and or tires.
He said the 225's are guaranteed to fit and not rub and wouldn't require any mod's to my car to fit (and only $50 more total), but know on here and other places I see everyone has a different size for the front and back.
Can I put the tires that come with them (245/35/R20) on my car ('00 gs300), both front and back or will they rub and damage my car or should I do the 225/35/R20's like the guy said or the 275/45/R20?
I'm really stuck here, I trust you guys more than the rim/tire place. I just want to make sure they fit and don't rub or anything like that and I don't want to have to alter anything on my car to put them on.
So which tires should I go with that will give me zero probs as far as fitment and require no modifcations to my car? Also can I do 20x8.5 all around (front and back) with no issues?
Thanks,
Anthony

to quickly answer your question though ...
245/35/20
275/30/20 <~~~ stick with these
these are the steps down
235/35/20
265/30/20
225/35/20
255/30/20 <~~ see the pattern .. equals small stretch .. as it goes down
it will work fine ... are you lowering your car too ? then maybe .. like all things butTTTTT
Your Good to go !@

Thanks for the tips, i'm still getting to know the site. Lexus is a great car and ClubLexus is a great forum As far as future mods and the wheels, the next thing would be the audio which isn't really a mod. Looking into some trim stuff from lextasy.com like the headlights and tail light chrome trimmings. I definitely wanna get some stuff from leatherseats.com too. I never thought I would be in to modifying cars but with a Lexus, you def. realize why people do it

I don't know the width of the rims. I tried to look up info on them on google but there isn't any dimensions, just says 20x8.5 (which I don't even know what that means...)

20 x 8.5 means they are 8.5" wide, and if you're going with the same size wheel front and back I'd just use the 245/35's all around. No point in staggering the tires on non-staggered wheels; not to mention that 275's are way too wide for an 8.5" wheel. Like was said above, if you do go staggered, a 275/30 is the normal rear tire size to match a 245/35 front. Assuming they'll fit properly, I'd go with a 245 in the front instead of 235 or 225, I personally prefer to have as much sidewall as I can properly fit to protect the wheels.
What particular wheel are you looking at? We need to know the width and offset to be able to tell you for sure whether you'll have any rubbing problems.

get a 20 inch wheel 8.5 inches wide in the front 245/35/20 tire
and a 20 inch wheels and a 10 inched wide in the rear 275/30/20 tire
If not Listen to Kyle Harty , Good luck ...

for daily driving i use this and it works perfect. the only time it rubs is when im in reverse and the wheel is cranked all the way to the left
245/35/20 -- front -- 20x8.5
285/30/20 -- rear -- 20x10
245/35/20 -- front -- 20x8.5

Thanks for all the help everyone. I appreciate it. The offset on them is 40mm or 20mm for the 5x114.3mm, I believe and the width is 8.5" (Thanks Kyle) I thought? Should I ask for a certain offset from the above?
If they do rub would it be all the time or? I just wanted them to fit as in fit in the wheel well and on the wheel base thing , if they rub in reverse left or right or something like that I suppose it's not bad. The guy at the place said a 225/35/R20 wouldn't rub guaranteed but it would be less protection of the rim?
Thanks again everyone, I really do appreciate it!
P.S. they are: Paladin Shields. You can keep the black insert on or off and make it all chrome so it's like two wheels in one What do you guys think about them?
