Cost of Timing belt/water pump replacement
Many people who had the dealer do it said its around $1200 including parts. I was quoted for $850 including parts. The parts they will be replacing consist of timing belt, water pump, crank seal, tensioner, pulley, thermostat and gasket kit. Does this list sound right? When looking through some of the related threads that some of the required parts are pretty much given (TB, WP, seal, and tensioner) but the rest seem to be all different for everyone that has done it.
Also do you think I can save a little bit more by buying the parts myself?

I bought the OEM parts online (you'll save anywhere from 20-40% on parts, depending on wheter your dealer marks up from retail prices) and had the Lexus dealer do the labor "ala carte". If I recall, the labor was around $570 w/ taxes & fees. The parts were around $320. So your quote sounds about right.
The genuine OEM Lexus parts I purchased were the following (I changed things that can break, no extra cost in labor as they have to take these parts off anyway):
a. timing belt ($37)
b. L timing idler pulley ($60)
c. R timing idler pulley ($63)
d. timing belt tensioner ($43)
e. water pump and gasket ($95)
f. thermostat and gasket ($12)
Note the above prices are approximate (and are discounted prices; about 20% off retail) and vary based on where you buy them. Good luck.

While you're at it, change your accessory (serpentine) belt if it's a little older or cracked. It's about $40 for an OEM serpentine accessory belt. Again, if you put this w/ the timing belt service, no extra charge--as they have to take it off to get to the timing belt.
