You mean the September 2000 release? I think that's what I have. When you check the version, let me know what it says.

gsnav - I bought my car 11/99 and it had the Sept'99 release. I bought the upgrade to Sept'00 and it definitely had updated POI, but I didn't notice road changes. One thing I was miffed about was that it still didn't reflect renumbered exits on the major interstates. Hopefully the next update will, which should be available by now.

I have the sept 01 edition. It just adds a few more roads and I really don't think it is worth the $. Mine was under warrenty however.

Thanks,

I think they take out your harddrive, put in an old harddrive from before that was updated, and then eventually they'll update your old harddrive and sell it to the next person who's getting an update.

How much does it cost?

I bought my car November of 99 and have the Sept./99 version map. What's the newest version for HD based NAV? Sept/01? I'm really concerned about all the carpool-to-carpool freeway lanes that have been added in So.Cal for the past year, and the re-construction of the 5 freeway.

My map doesn't even have DOWNTOWN DISNEY!

When I got my car it had the '98 map in it, and I upgraded it last year to the '00 map. Not only did it have more/newer roads (not all of them, by far, but more) but it also changed the coloring scheme to make it much better looking. Not sure if that change was part of the '99 or '00 map, but I like it.

Regarding the upgrade, I never really looked at it but I would think it would be simple to take out the hard drive, clone it to another drive, and then 'sell' that to someone. Perhaps we could get a group by and save some serious cash...?

what color scheme was it before? what color scheme is it now?

What I really hate about the NAV is the color. I have the tan/green color at day and the dark green/medium green/blue color at night. The 2001 NAVs have a really nice color.

I wonder if the Sept 2001 MAP will change my color?

I too wondered the same thing. The new wide screen nav's are sweet (and FAST).
