No because the factory "wiring" is the amp. You're bypassing the amp. Normally the connectors that the custom harness plug into are plugged into the amp. There is no factory mating connector in the car for those.

Maybe I misunderstood this thread, I was under the assumption that he was trying to get the deck to work with factory amp... So this "harness" that is being made is just hooking up all the factory speakers to aftermarket deck?

If so, then you can get universal harnesses from any electronic store and make your own little kit, but IMO its not needed, just hardwire it all to the factory speakers once you find out which wires at the amp go to the speakers.

well while you believe it or not. I went to school and am MECP Certified 1st class and believe me when i tell you i went thru many wiring schemes with relays and so on and it would not work.

Whether its cheap to do or not is not the question, but I believe it can be done.

well the way I figure it, if they got the stock deck to do it, you can get anything else to do it. Just me. I'm not dissing you at all with your certification, but there are some master wire'ers (I know not a real word ) out there that can do some crazy ****. You know how it goes, you might try it a million times, but only takes one time to get it right. Its not a million times of failure, just a million times of how not do it If someone really wants to get it done, it has to be possible; someone just needs to make a call to Toyota in Japan itself and ask them what they do to get that sucker on and a device can be made.

Hell off the top of my head in these last few seconds, heres what I've got, its ghetto, but works. Pull factory deck out, stuff it somewhere behind the dash somewhere, disconnect all wires to speakers and run them to deck with modified hi/low converter. That keeps factory deck still 'half' installed to power amp. Car turns on, amp turns on but speakers runs off aftermarket deck. HELLA ghetto, but we're not talking practical at the moment, just mythbusting

I still believe he is bypassing the amp.

He unplugged 2 connectors from the amp (that I assume ran to the Head Unit) and then ran them to the connector at the back of the aftermarket Radio.

yes he is bypassing the amp, because there is no way to make the aftermarket HU turn it on.

How about my original question..

Where do you get the connectors that mate to the old amp connectors?

I will warn everybody here. As far as I believe and what was previously mentioned like a year back, the speakers in the car are all 2ohm. I have seen many DIYs and all speakers show 2ohm. Most aftermaket HUs don't go below 4 ohm. I have an Alipine that cuts out at high volume. Without a proper protection circuit, you could blow the HU.

So either..

A. look for a miracle head unit that is 2 ohms capable

or

B. Upgrade your speakers..
