I would almost want to do the opposite, take the OEM 01+ outer with the orange and swap those on the LED ones...

Not hard at all, be like taking the 98-00 and doing the clearing Mod. All you need is time, patience, a Dremel and some silicone.

Be the best of both world, you'll end up with OEM LED and a set that would be 98% close to the JP OEMs...

The 01+ tails can not be cleared like the 98 - 00 tails... it's a totally different design and many folks runed tail lights trying when they first came out.

The idea of taking the entire plastic face off of a LED set and putting it on an OEM 01+ light is interesting though. You could probably put the OEM plastic face with the orange stripback on the LED set and sell it on ebay and recoup your costs.

I've never looked at how that entire piece is attached around the edges though.

Search please louie . Use advanced search on the 2GS forum and keywords like clear tail or clear dremel.

What I meant to say was, that the steps would be the same. You would have to dremel open the halves...

I would think OEM covers on the LED tails would almost be thinking backwards...I would think most people want the clear signal over the orange. It would be interesting to see though

I would like to see someone attempt this... I wouldn't mind trying but I don't like to gamble.
