I been asking around about the same thing, if your looking for HID housing, check ebay or a salvage yard. Maybe even the classifieds forum. I haven't had any luck myself, I was thinking about buying HID projectors from another vehicle such as Acura TSX or something and retrofitting them into my Halogen housing to project the light in a straight manner. I found an on-line tutorial on how to retrofit, I just have to find it and I will post it later. Finding good size projectors may be a little time consuming....

The only way you're going to get some HID bowl is if you buy new/used seat of headlights or you find someone who is selling their OEM bowls.

Rarely do you find anyone who is selling a set of HID bowls.

The bowl is the bowl itself. Bowls are the reflective part inside the housing where the bulbs are mounted.

not to bring this thread from the graveyard but, i have a set of riken9006 hid kit with the nonhid bowls. i have been reading about blinding people or what not by using the kits without bowls but how much difference do the bowls really make? are they that much brighter and woth the effort to source these and open the headlight housing? opinions please

The problem with putting an HID kit in a halogen reflector housing is that the halogen reflector wasn't designed for the brightness of HID so the beam pattern is off. It just shoots light everywhere, it doesn't matter if the bulb is "designed just like your stock halogen bulb" which is the gimmick most HID sellers use. The problem is that the light output is so much more intense with an HID bulb than a halogen and a halogen reflector just wasn't made to handle that intensity. If you look at an HID reflector, at first glance it looks similar to a halogen reflector but there is a design difference. Hope that helps.
