Question Tranny Issue or Loss of Power?

Ok so this past weekend I woke up early to take my g/f to work. So I'm pulling out of my driveway and switch from "R" to "D" and when I hit the gas NOTHING, the car snails forward and revs to about 2k, I wait about two seconds and press the gas again, this time i feel a little pull like if it just got into gear and then it pulls away fine. No more problems the rest of the day. This was Saturday.

On Sunday this did not happen at all and the car seemed fine, same story on Monday. But yesterday (Tuesday), when I leave in the morning on my way to work it does it again !! this time I didn't reverse since I backed in the night before. I justed turned on the car, Switch from "P" to "D" like every other day and press the pedal and once again I get this sluggish response for a couple seconds and then it's fine again. I don't know what's going on, I think someone else on here had this problem before but I searched and could not find it.

Can anyone give me any suggestions on what might be causing this? I hope my trans. isn't going out I haven't even hit 52k miles yet ...

I had this same problem when my battery was weak. Since I changed my battery, this never happened again. How is your battery? Get it checked.

Hmmm, i never thought of that, I'm going to go have it checked today and hopefully that's the problem. The worst case scenario would be that the transmission might be slipping

Check your transmission fluid. Dont rely on the cold reading. Warm up your engine and shift the gears around. THEN you check the fluid while the engine is running.

Will do that as well, in the case that the fluid IS low, should I just add more fluid or have it completely flushed and refilled?

Just add it until it's fill. Just never rely on the cold level because once the tranny is hot and you pull out the dipstick, you're not going to see any fluid on there.

And After you get a nice hot reading, you may find that when you check it again in the morning (w/out engine on), that the fluid level will be beyond the hot level. This is normal.

I had a very similar problem minus the reverse issue. It was the tranny fluid. I got a full flush and it worked great after.

Ok well after work yesterday I took my car over to the Autozone right next to my house and had the battery tested, the guy told me it was bad so I ended up buying a new one. After putting the new battery in I noticed I must have had a bad battery for awhile without even realizing it because I noticed little things that got better ...

1) My radio display screen used to fritz in and out and display weird symbols, and now it looks perfect, no problems.

2) One station (Power 96) used to cut in and out intermittenly and now is perfect, no more problems.

-I thought my radio was messed up this whole time and it turns out the battery was just going bad

3) My headlights seem brighter at night (They weren't dim before, but now they are much brighter).

4) For some reason (I dunno if this is all in my head) I feel like throttle response is a little quicker when I mash the pedal ...

- I'm sure I'll find many more little things that have gotten better but for now this is all I noticed ... Thanks for the input guys

- BTW I didn't check the trans fluid last night but I'm going to have it flushed and refilled soon when I get my 60k service ...
