Default Turn Signal Won't Quit after Turn

Am I the only one with this problem? About six months ago, I changed my turn signal because the fog light switch had quit working. I had read that this was one of the common things on these cars that go bad.

I bought a new signal stalk from Carson Toyota and installed it myself and everything worked great. Now, about six months later and about 50% of the time, after a turn and the wheel comes back to center, the signal stalk doesn't move and keeps blinking. I then have to turn it off manually.

What's going on? Is the problem in the signal stalk itself or is it something in the column?

I did a search but couldn't find any posts with this same issue.

Thanks

I cannot believe we're the only two out there with this problem. The fog light switch on the turn stalk is a common problem but I thought the turn signal aspect was all mechanical.

Help please!

It's Saturday. I was hoping to work on this today but I'm still scratching my head wondering what the problem might be.

Anyone out there with some advice?

Thanks in advance.

i'm thinking its just a part in the switch wearing out. it didn't do it initially.

i got my stalk for 90 bucks from a local wholesaler.

No, it didn't do it initially. I too am afraid the switch/stalk may be a problem but it's only about 7 months old.

I replaced my original one 7 months ago due to the foglight portion wearing out. I kept it and took it apart this past weekend to see if I could get a sense of how it works. I couldn't even figure out how it goes back together since some plastic thingy fell out of it.

I may take the new one out and put it back just to see if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the post.

whoa - i had no idea it actually was supposed to stop by itself after the turn. i gotta go try that today. i normally just blink a few times manually by moving the stalk 3 times real fast and then i make my turn so i never knew it was supposed to go back.

it's funny that i say this after racking up 125k miles on it.

its either the stalk or the piece that turns it off (attached to the clock springs outer rim.)

Aha! Does anyone know where I can find a photo or diagram of that piece? That would be my guess moreso than my new stalk.
