Want to get 28mpg on a GS300. I did it and let me tell ya, it ain't easy and friikin boringggggggg! Well the way to do it is to never exceed 2200 rpm in any gear. In top gear that equates to, between 55-58 mph, boring! I drive exactly 352 miles every week and never in traffic. This week I'm trying not to exceed 2400 rpm, 60-63 mph. I can't take that 55-58, BORING lol. Will let you know what I average for mpg this week. 2004 GS300.

Yeah I'd rather spend a few extra bucks to get to where Im going a little faster. Also another way to get good gas mileage is to never go over 55 mph. You start loosing mpg once you get over 55 mph. But who wants to drive everywhere only going 55 anyways?

Let us know what you get. A lot of people drive so fast as if paying $4/gal is cool. I don't understand why they can't take an extra 5-10mins to get where they're going so they don't have to rush.

I think doing 60mph is good on gas too.

ive gotten 31mpg once (I keep a religious track gas fill ups), in a V8 too! If you set your cruise control at like 65mph on highway, GS4x0 should get like high 20s low 30s mpg.

i try the same approach in my rx330, hard to control on the gs400, but rx is slow to start with but not to shabby for a all wheel drive car! this was recent trip to Lancaster i average around 28mpg.

But i get better gas millage on the gs400 if i try hard, i dont drive all slow but on the light i try not to step on it and leave everyone behind

i got almost 400 miles to the tank once when the light came on...all highway driving in the gs, not going any faster than the speed limit. I changed my 20" to 18" for the winter. I was driving like that cuz i had couple of my wife nephews in the back seat and was driving slow.

i just got back from nor cal. i got 212 miles on the 1st 1/2 tank; now x 2 = 400+ miles. so mathematically + including a few gun runs, i'd say i could've gotten about 380+/- miles on the full tank. how i did this i have no clue. i was averaging about 80-85 w/few gun runs hitting 100+.

I6 here

Since the 2nd gen GS does not have an onboard computer, it is difficult to get accurate mpg results. The best way to get accurate mpg readings is to purchase a plug & play scan guage. You can find good deals online for them.

DASHOCKER: What do you mean exactly?

I just use the one from my screen and working it out mathematically, it's pretty accurate.

The scan guage plugs directly into the car's OBD2 port and gives you realtime feedback based on various parameters. Much more accurate than the trip readout in the car.

Of course you can always use the tried and trued way, dirve, fillup, and then devide the trip by the gallons of gas purchased. I used to get 23mph in my 02 GS 300. I was never able to get more than that even on long roade trips with cruise set at 70mph.
