Default Gs4 electric shift acting funny today

I was pulling out of a parking garage and was trying to use my manual shift buttons. I put it in manual and tried to down shift with wheel buttons. It went 5, 4, 3 and when I tried to go to 2 it just beeped. I tried it over and over again and it wouldnt go lower than 3. so i shifted to L and back up to M and it began working and is fine now. Can anyone tell me why it wouldnt go below 3.

That's normal, let the car warm up next time and you will see it works just fine.

ok that is what I was thinking that it wasnt warm. My car seems to act a little wierd when i first start it up for the day. acts like its not wanting to shift out of first till tranny fluid gets warm. May not even be that. its like when you let off gas it bogs down like real tourguey. I quess im explaining it right. then after i go for a few seconds it operates perfect.

i had this same problem only once last year on a pretty warm day. i had just driven for 30 mins + on the highway on cruise all in top gear i suppose then upon exiting the highway there is a long 1/2 mile ramp going down to the street light so i put it in manual and started to slowly downshift instead of using the break and when i got to around 25 mph i hit down again to go into 2nd and it just beeped at me like dude said above. not sure if having it on cruise for 30+ mins somehow made the fluid get cooler if you will causing it not to shift into 2nd. but maybe there is some other cause, not sure...

you were traveling too fast to go into 2nd gear. The tranny will not over rev, that's why you heard the beeps and did not shift to a lower gear. I guess you can say it's dummy proof J/K

dummy proff or not i can go outside right now and down shift from at least 30mph into 2nd... i don't think 25 mph was to high... and without sounding argumentative i then started to apply the brakes while continuing to press the down shifter buttons and even once i came to a stop it was just beeping while in 3rd..

but sersiously whats 25mph in 2nd like 4k rpm... do you think 4k rpm is to high??

and i know from doing it recently that it will down shift into 3rd at well over 4k rpm... i don't recommend it though..

Hey, can anyone write a How-To tutorial on how to use the Manual buttons?

I've been tempted to try it out, but I'm afraid of messing up the transmission, etc.

If anyone can write one up and post it up here, I'm sure a lot of uncertain people who have the buttons would find it useful. There's currently no tutorial on CL yet for it.

Thanks in advance!!!
