Vsc on and Vsc off on and Check engine on!
About 2 days ago my vsc and vsc off light came on after hitting a bumb. It wasnt a big bump. I turned car off and back on and they went off and all was fine untill today. They both came on and so did check engine light. Car was acting normal. I was near autozone so I wipped in and they said the only code they were getting was P0505 Idle controll sensor. They said I needed to propably replace idle controll sensor. It was running perfect though so I just went home and pulled negative cable off to reset ecu. Now All the lights are off and its running the same as when they were on. It runs perfect. Im thinking a loose wheel sensor is causing the vsc deal, but I dont understand the idle controll sensor. let me know what you all think.
I have a 98 gs400

Those Autozone guys are funny. There is no idle control sensor. Idle is controlled by the ECM.
DTC P0505 Idle Control System Malfunction - this can be caused by:
1. A issue with the Electric Throttle Control System (consists of the throttle motor, throttle valve, the magnetic clutch, throttle position sensor, accelerator pedal position sensor, ECM, and the throttle body).
2. A loose hose on the air intake system.
Since you had hit a bump I would think a loose hose is most likely. I would snoop around your air intake system and try to find a loose hose or obvious leak. It may have had to see the malfunction twice before setting the code so that may be why it only came on the second time but i am not sure of this.
Hope this helps.

I got the same problem I have the 98 gs 400 the vsc vsc off light come on. I disconect the negative terminal battery and the warning light come off on that day. two days later I drove the car the vsc vsc off light come on again, I notice while I'm on the stop light I fill a little vidration on the engine and idle is low it felt like the is going to die. I stop by at autozone and they code P1346. when I look this code at lexus is for VVT range sensor. any idea what is this code. Thanks Whelee

Also anytime your VSC light comes on it may set a code in the ABS system of the car that is not readable by a basic OBDII scan tool. I have no idea what tool they use at Autozone so I don't know if they are capable of reading ABS W/VSC codes. Just a FYI.
