Default Acuators

Well it's official my pass/front and drive/rear door lock actuators took a dump
Saw the DIY (looks like brain surgery) so I called the dealership:

Front door costs more for some reason: $530
And the rear was quoted at $ 350 Totalling: ($900) WTF?

$530 is wrong. call Luis @ carson toyota. 800-908-6968. make sure you tell him you are a member of CL.

what are the symptoms of the actuator failing? When i lock my car the rear passenger door doesn't lock, i would have to do it manually, would this be it? I guess its a good thing i got warranty, looks expensive.

oops. didnt realize this was to have them install it too... you can probably still get away spending less getting the part from carson at the discounted CL rate and bringing it to a different shop to have them put it in...

$210 plus $20 shipping=$230 and factory is $300..I'll get at the dealership also yeah it says 02-05 so not sure about that and they say"It retail for.."sounds like a foreigner (shady). The labor is the other half of this bill so everyone has to ask themselves..is brain surgery worth about $200/door saved??

c'moooon, it's not brain surgery. Get a couple screwdrivers and have at it. Worst case scenario, you show up at the Lexus dealership with a door completely torn apart, and tell them not to charge ya for disassembly... u already took care of it. Just get em to reassemble it

Along with the way prices on everything happen to be going, it is a dealer price and it is Lexus on top of that. Its just money, let the dealer be responsible for tearing door panels out.

If one or two are bad,, the others are close behind. You can replace just the motors. $10 shipped for 5 on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=180256784252

You can get the gear puller here. http://www.raidentech.com/mogepu1mshby.html

Not hard at all man.. the DIY is very detailed and you cant really go wrong. Just did mine last month and it was not hard at all. You can fix all the door actuators for about $25 and a couple of hours labor.
