Share my save gas experience. GS430 28.5 MPG ,must see
I have been suffering for high gas price for a while. I wanna share some of my own experience with you guys on how to save gas. First of all: I am very heavy foot guy,but sometimes you do want to drive like regular people. maybe some of your guys don't really care about gas price
but anyway... FYI, I have two cars,
1999 camry 90k. before 25 MPG after 35 -36.4 MPG
Full Tank: about 580 Miles. fill up 16.4 gallons
2003 GS430 69k. before 18.5 MPG agter 27.8-29 MPG
Full Tank: about 430 Miles. fill up 15.5 gallons
Condition: I drove 60 miles daily from orange county to LA county. Without traffic ( opposity way does,) I am lucky
. one trip 30 miles 12% local. 88% FWY. I almost don't need to brake on the freeway. all this result I have been tried at least 3 times. I fill up the gas when light is on. go to the same gas station. use your current miles / how much gas you fill in.
Here is what I do, I try this on my camry first. I was surppise about how is my MPG improve. So I try this on my GS again. it works really well too. Here you go..........
1. Lost weight. ( remove the spare tire. Jack, tool, the staff you don't need on your car. I used to put a pack of bottle water. why do you have to leave jack & extra tire in your car. for that thing you probably dont need for a few years. I never use them. if you do need it. you can call your friend. or AAA, it your option )
2. check your air filter if you could. Use 5W30 type mot oil. Clean your throttle body. ( this will increase your MPG about 2 MPG. if you never done it before.
3. Pump all the tire to 36 PSI. ( I change my tires from costco, they use nitrigen air )
4. Don't use the A/C. unless you really need to. I turn on the A/C the mileage will varied about 1 MPG. ( it it not that much, your options )
5.light brake, and slow accelerate
6.last one. the most important one is that use the crusie funtion. whenever you can. FWY around 61 Miles. Local 45 miles. ( I cruise even on local , depends where u live. I know some place you can't even drive faster than 30 m)
