i once went just under 30 miles like 28.5 all with the light on and i was sweating big time. what about at highway speeds??? if your going 75 can you still go the same distance as say city driving on E...? i've always wondered this too.

Well, I don't exactly remember how far I went after the light came on, but one time on my Nav screen under trip info, it read 1 mile distance to empty. Was I really at 1 mile until empty or does Lexus safeguard us by giving a conservative warning?

BTW: I don't constantly try to "milk" the mileage out of my car. One of my friends tries to do this all the time and one time it really went empty. I think he ended up replacing the fuel pump.

The light is a pretty early notice. You have about 50 miles or so until you will get stranded on the side of the highway. Don't ask me how I know...but yes it sucked big time. No gas stations out in the middle of nowhere. Good thing there was still cell reception and I had AAA lol.

But now, I have to run my car at 1/4+ tank of fuel at all times. The acceleration is so violently fast now thru 1st and 2nd gear that if I'm under 1/4 tank all the fuel will fly to the back of the tank under full throttle and the engine will cut out for a second lol.

haha i've ridden in some other cars that were like that (high hp applications of course). i got my old jeep grand cherokee to 1 mile remaining in the trip info computer thing once, as i pulled into a gas station it hit 1 mile i almost wanted to do circles around the station to see if it would seriously stall but i decided that wouldn't be so funny when i would have to get out and push...

Definitely a early warning. I drive to work with that gas light on all the time since the Costco gas station is half a block from my office. One day I forgot and went home and back to work again the next day with the light on. Sweated bullets for that half block till i got to the Costco. Put 17.75 gallons in that day.

even when the nav screen shows 0 miles under driving distance, you can still drive at least 10 miles, maybe more..

one time i didnt remember when the light turned on so i just kept on driving. car started cutting off for about half a mile. got about 100ft from the gas station and it just died. had to push the car with my co worker (girl) to the gas station. very embarrassing... i dont let the light turn on no more since that incident.
