eswells, try this link to his listing on the GS wood wheel. This will take you directly to the item in his ebay store.

So here is the golden question... Is there a way to use a DOUBLE-STAGE airbag with a SINGLE-STAGE harness (such as the harness on my 1999 GS)? I have been researching this for HOURS and the only way I see installing a "stock" woodgrain steering wheel with the chrome lexus emblem into a 1999-2000 GS is to somehow find a 2001 RX300 airbag and hook that up with the newer style steering wheel. If anyone has information on getting around this problem please let me know...

The Gs400 has e-shift as well as the Gs300 from 2001-2005. The Gs430 never had e shift nor did the Gs300 from 1998-2000.

I've contacted the individual listed above about purchasing a steering wheel. He has a brand new wheel made with the shift button option. It has no air bag which of course is not a big deal, but it also does not come with the shift buttons....

Has anyone here ever taken that mechanism out of their steering wheel? How hard was it? The guy talked about it not being a big deal to use my parts on the new one, but i wanted to know if anyone has done this before. Any insight is much appreciated. thanks!

guys this issue has done been touched on before... GS300s from 98-00 didnt have tiptronic, and gs300s from 01-05 did!, GS400s from 98-00 did have tip, and 01-05 gs430 did not have them!, and yes you can use your old 98-00 airbag on an 01up steering wheel but fitment is horrible, ive never seen actual pictures but ive heard of people doing it on the fourms... plus why would you it would look horrible, they dont even look like the same shape!!!

If your GS came with e-shift, your only OEM option is to find a GS3 2001 + wheel with the e-shift and rare wood option. You'll then have to get a RX2001 airbag assembly, as this is the only (pretty sure) single stage airbag that will fit in the wheel and connect to your 98-00 wiring harness.

Do a search on this forum because I installed one of these rare wood wheels in my 99 GS4 several years ago and all the part numbers are in that post for airbags, steering wheel controls, etc.

Speaking of OEM, what about a 01-05 Aristo wheel? Would a e-shift wood grain wheel from that model fit my e-shift 04'?

Not sure, but I would guess they would be the same unless the stalk controls for cruise, wiper, etc. required a different mounting option.
You would have to do some research on that option.
