Default GS300 Engine Mount Replacement Questions...

Hey Guys,

So it seems to me that my engine mounts might need to be replaced, because I am feeling excessive drive train movement. At higher RPM shifts, it feels like my engine moves slightly and shifts aren't as smooth as they once were. I have already had the trans mount replaced, and that hasn't seemed to help. I checked the forums, and this seems to be a common issue with the 400's and 430's, but I see little regarding the 300's. I guess my question is how difficult is it to replace the mounts on the 300? It only looks like there are two mounts, but how hard a job is it? What could I expect to be charged if the dealer did it? Your help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Easy, jack the engine from the ground with a piece of wood just a bit, the car will lift a little, then unscrew the mounts. Then continue to jack the engine up and it will come out. Put the new one in, slowly lower the engine onto the mount. The other side you need to take off the oil filter, so do it all at the same time. Rinse repeat.

I believe I was quoted about $700-$750 (parts/labor for the two mounts) from the dealer in Omaha, NE.

Hey Guys,

So the other day I got some new engine mounts installed in my 2002 GS300 Sport Design. In order to install the new mounts, the tech had to slightly undo the sub-frame bolts. Didn't seem like an issue to me, except for he warned me my alignment caster angle might be out because of this. Is there any truth to that, or is he just pulling my chain?

Also, do you think he did any damage to the car at all by unbolting the sub frame?

Default Changing engine mounts on 07 GS350

hello I went to lexus and they quoted me close to $6,000. My car has 240,000 miles on it, still looks good and drive great u til it spent a weekend at valley lexus for leaking transmission fluid, when I picked it up 5 days later it ran and sounded like an 1985 ford pinto with an exhaust leak. I swear it was as if they switched out the motor. I expressed my concerns and they said I need to change all 3 mounts. I didn't have this problem 5 days ago but now they want $6,000 when my car is probably worth $7,000 on a good day. I told them no way, called my mechanic in oakdale, he got it done in 3 days for $1100 using lexus mounts. Dealerships are a rip off and the last couple years they hire shady mechanics who steal, they keep taking my Lexus emblem valve stem covers! Hope this info helps
