Default 2001 GS-430 Power Mirror Switch

My power mirror switch seems to have gone bad for the left mirror. It still adjusts the right mirror, but I can feel there is no "Notch" between center and left any longer.

Any suggestions on how to remove/replace it, and possibly repair the existing switch before buying a new one ?

Thanks for any help.

It may be one of these three things: 1.Mirror Motor 2. Wire Harness
3. Driver and Passenger Door ECU
Did you try to take the door trim apart and make sure the cables are still connected properly?

Default Mirror Switch

I can pretty much tell it's the "multi-position switch" as you can feel the "notch" for the right, but when moved to the left, I feel no "notch" for center, or left. I feel the switch has broken, or something inside the switch has malfunctioned, and I need to find out how to remove the switch to get a closer look, or take it to a Lexus Technician friend who "May" know if he can repair the switch, but I don't know how to remove it from the dash.

Any suggestions, please ?

Thanks

David

I think you can get at it by removing the under cover and then the safety pad. There are 2 screws for the under cover. Then 2 more for the hood lock. Then 4 bolts and one screw for the safety pad. You should have your battery disconnected before you start this.

Then you have to take off the parking brake handle and that puts you at the switch.

Thanks for the reply--

I'm afraid you are way over my head as I have no idea what a "under cover", "safety pad", OR a "hood lock" is, much less know how to recognize them if I saw them. THe miror switch is mounted just to the left of the "Change Tray", where spare change is stored, which by the way, I just discovered about a week ago after owning the car for over 3 years.

I was hoping I could get under the dash, see how the switch was secured from the back side and removed it, un-plug any harness plutted to it, and simply remove the switch for examination.

If you have any better suggestions for a "Novice", I'd appreciate any further comments.

Regards,

David

The lowest part of the dash, under the steering wheel, is the under cover. It's the first piece of plastic. The next piece up is the safety cover. The hood lock is the latch to release your hood.

Default Mirror Switch

Thanks for your advice. I'll do some poking and see what I find. If I can't do it, I know somebody that can, for a lot more money.
