What happend to starting your car from your remote, old school, but that's the look you want. People around freaking out because the car started by it self. No one can see you push a red button while you are in the car. Oh yeah and don't forget to unlock the steering, so you still have to use the key. Pointless!!!

well yeah i actually thought about it last minute about the steering column lock. if you break off the steering column lock it would work, but work case sceneiro is that when you get towed you cant lock it.

How about something like this to go along with the keyless start button, I am sure it can work with a car and not just a motorcycle. You could put the transponder portion of the key in the dash so you wouldn't have to bypass the stock security.

yeah i was looking into that also. but you have to think about the steering column lock. the key has to be in the ignition to unlock the steering column. i have to check with my remove start if it would bypass the sterring column without the key.

I wasn't sure how the column lock worked on the lexus, I know my corvette has an electric column lock which isn't really a good thing since they fail. So I am assuming there is a mechanical linkage from the ignition assembly to the column?

It is electronic on the GS as well. When I remote start my GS via the Viper alarm remote, my steering wheel tilts as if I would start the car with the key in the ignition. Once started via remote, the steering wheel will no longer be locked. If I depress the brake pedal w/o putting the key in the ignition, the car will turn itself off and the steering wheel will retract and lock itself.

I'm going one of two routes:
1. Ordering a starter button from a new IS and installing it somewhere on the dash near the key.
2. Using a very tiny button installed in the bottom back of the shifter **** or the right (inside) of the left trimpiece that comes from the radio area to the horizontal console (covered with woodgrain on the left side).

Then I would buy a flip key, because I would use the keyless entry, but rarely the key itself.

Plus I don't like fumbling with keys: I always keep a spare key duct-taped way underneath the car in case I need it, so I could run to the store, get the kids from school, whatever, without bringing my keys.
